If I was Myers I would ask for a trade. They've held him back far too long, he's been good enough for top 6 for some time now. Not his fault you have non waiver exempt contracts in front of him - trade someone. |

What has Myers done that gives him the ammo to ask for a trade?
At a certain point last season he started to look ready to compete for an NHL spot but beyond that..... |

Bill, what's your sense of how often they'll get Morin into games? If he's just going to sit in the press box there is little sense in keeping him in my eyes. The kid probably needs as much ice time as possible. |

I think a lot of these moves are compliance related. Let's see what the roster looks like in a week or so. They prob didn't want to risk losing Morin on waivers so they sent down Myers and Farabee for now. I see both of those guys back up soon.

Well, congratulations to Morin, Bunnaman and Twarynski on making the opening roster! IMO Morin made the team on merit. I viewed him in the top 6 based on the preseason. Good job and keep it up. Bunny is a worker. You got this. Twarynski fast and tenacious will score. There is no let down now.

I'm glad he's getting a chance to show what he's got. He brings a required element to the d Corps imo. Hope he stays healthy. I'd like to see farabee be up on the squad soon as well.

Should young players automatically be given a spot on the team? By all accounts, Myers has not earned the spot with his play this pre season. He is not being held back and has zero leverage to request a trade. |

They want to shelter Frost Farabee and Myers so that we can flip them for 35 yr old vets after our 0-10 start hahaha |

I have no idea if Farabee and Myers will be in consideration for the first game in Philly. The cap situation has to play out. Being the last cuts, should be encouraging, keep working!

Something struck me as funny about the last behind the glass episode. For a long while the flyers players have pushed back against the fans yelling “SHOOT” during the games. During this weeks episode, anytime there was practice footage from the ice, it was AV yelling at the players to shoot. |

Yeah. I don't see a scenario where we don't need them up on the big club at some point this season with the luck we seem to have with injuries. |

That is funny. I think it's very different coming from a coach in practice than it would be coming from your home fans. AV is probably referring to not over passing rather than always shooting when the player has other options. I believe what the players are saying is that it is a needless distraction from your home fans when you should have every small advantage. Obviously, on the road there will be distractions etc, but I see what they are getting at. It doesn't help at all when people continuously yell this all the while ignoring the fact that there is no lane to the net for a shot. If they shoot its off shin pads and going the other way. |

Re: “SHOOT!!”
AV is trying to get some of the guys off of their ‘pass first’ mentality.
Like Dorny always said, “you can’t go wrong putting the puck on the net.” |

That's a tough habit to break. Kinda reminds me of Rhys Hoskins' 'I'd rather walk than swing the bat' mindset |

I agree with that logic. Prob is, when we're on the PP and the fans are yelling shoot at Ghost for example, while he's got a forward 3 feet in front of him blocking the lane to the net, it doesn't help. |

Ghost, nor any of the other players hear the fans yelling shoot, or anything else for that matter, they are too focused on playing. But the fans yelling shoot is pretty annoying for the educated spectator to listen to.

People are missing the fact that the changes are only temporary. Once Season starts they will likely bring Myers back up and maybe even Farabee. |

It is tough to break. It has to be with the mentality of the team though. Many guys out there make you feel like a puck hog because you shoot. I got razzed about that a lot as a teen and that made me always think pass going forward. You feel guilty for taking shots rather than passing to an open guy. |

It feels nice to be back in cap hell after having all that cap space Hexy created.
That other way wasn't working for me and it feels more normal to be back to a cap strapped bubble team.
Thanks Comcast for getting the financials back on track after those 5 years of Hextall malfeasance. |

Yeah, I get that but you need those players with the shoot first mentality. I wouldn't consider briere a puck hog but he shot a lot I. The right situations in my view

They aren't a group of amateur teen players who will succumb to peer pressure.

Good fantasy draft last night boys! Quick question, does anybody use the Start Active Players for the week tool? Are there pros and cons? In other words, should I use it? lol |

I think the point was that AV said that they were in the Offensive Zone for over 30 seconds and not 1 shot was on net. |
